Is handwashing recommended to prevent the spread of COVID-19?

It is important to wash your hands with soap and water when you are in close contact with an HIV positive person. Hand washing at regular intervals is a must to stop the spread of COVID-19, along with other COVID appropriate behaviors, when caring for the sick, after coughing or sneezing, when using the toilet, before eating, and after handling animals or animal waste. After touching common surfaces such as doorknobs or handles, or after one comes back home from a public place, hand washing is a must.

What are the recommended surfaces to clean and disinfect during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Priority disinfection should be done on high-touch surfaces in these settings, such as door and window handles, kitchen and food preparation areas, counter tops, bathroom surfaces, toilets and taps, and personal computer keyboards.
